Commerce Club Supports Toys for Tots
For Snellville Commerce Club members, it's become a holiday tradition. Each year, our December meeting is held at Summit Chase Country Club, and we invite members of the US Marines to visit as we bring toys and money to support their Toys for Tots program. 2011 was no exception to this annual event.
We were able to present the three Marines (and one Marine ROTC) with several bags of toys to distribute to needy children in Gwinnett County. We also presented the Marines with a generous donation, including a $1,000 check from Rick Locke and the Snellville Wal-Mart.
Members mingle prior to enjoying a delicious lunch at Summit Chase.

Toys donated by members lie under the Christmas tree.
Club Co-President Jimmy Norton begins the meeting with a review of the past year's events, and some thoughts on the Marines.

Each Marine is presented with a flower arrangement, courtesy of A Daisy a Day.
In 2008, the club was presented with a letter from P.R. Ozmer, Jr., the
commanding officer of Marine light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773,
based in Marietta.
The letter reads,
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Jimmy Norton and the members of the Snellville Chamber of Commerce for your continued support of HMLA-773. Through your generous donations and efforts, you have directly attributed to the unit's ability to effectively dissemminate information to the families of our Marines. Your value to the squadon can not be overstated.
As the Commanding Officer, it has been a great honor to work with your Chamber. Your faithful service will facilitate the Marines' ability to accomplish the mission regardless of their personal trials. Your service to country, Corps and the Red Dogs is an inspiration for all. Thank you for a job well done and Semper Fidelis!
